The Publicity Committee on Silver Jubilee celebration and N500 million appeal fund on Walter Miller College of Nursing Sciences, Kaltungo on Saturday lauded Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, and the Mai of Kaltungo for their far-reaching support to the Anglican Church especially its project.

PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the N500 million appeal fund would help in the completion of Walter Miller College of Nursing Sciences, Kaltungo, which is said to have already gulped not less than N600 million.
Disclosing this in Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Bolari, Gombe State, Chairman of the committee, Barrister Emmanuel Nwaekwe, said the school when completed will boost manpower in the state.
Nwaekwe said, “We have received alot of cooperation from the state government. Some of the problems that we have, we usually go straight and its resolved.
“By the grace of God we are inaugurating College of nursing sciences in Kaltungo. Presently, we have invested approximately N600 to N700 million. We have structures on ground there are things we need to fix there. There is a reason behind it in the coming of Gombe State there was shortage of personnel in the health sector.”
The chairman continued saying, “The vision of our pioneer Bishop was what can the church do to support the state government that brought about the establishment of Walter Miller College of Nursing Sciences in Kaltungo.
“We will train nurses, midwives, and some other paramedics. We are doing the launching to raise the N500 million, we expect that the school will be functional in the coming year.”

While lauding Governor Yahaya, Nwaekwe noted that the governor’s policies have been supportive to the church, he also commended the Kaltungo monarch for his support.
Nwaekwe added, “It will interest you to know that the Mai Kaltungo Saleh Mohammed OON, the deputy chairman of council of chiefs in Gombe State has carried the project on his shoulder. He has given us the support that we need in the acquisition of the land, raising of funds, to the structures we have there. He is always physically present whenever we call him, we can’t be grateful enough.
“Our special guest of honour shall be our governor Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya. We can’t thank the governor enough, he has been a wonderful friend to us. He has given us access beyond measures.”
