The Secretary to Government of Gombe State, Professor Ibrahim Njodi, has praised the leadership and members of Mallam Sidi Progressive Association for their unwavering commitment to the development of the area.
Njodi who made the commendation while addressing the eighth annual meeting of the Association in Mallam Sidi said the attention accorded education has greatly expedited the growth of the community.
The SGS impressed by the effort of the association in the educational sector made personal donation of one million naira to it’s educational endowment fund in support of children of the less privileged.
On developmental challenges facing the community which include citing of tertiary education and health facilities, erosion, and road network, the SGS directed the relevant Commissioners to liaise with the Director-General of Joint Project and the Local Government Chairman to come up with actionable strategies for their actualisation.
Professor Njodi also announced that work will soon commence on the proposed Modern International Cattle Market close to the community, urging youth in area to avail themselves the job opportunities the market will offer.
On his part, Chairman of the occasion, Ambassador Yerima Abdullahi, stressed the need for for aggressive investment in the education as according to him no society thrives in ignorance and demonstrated that by a personal donation of one million naira to the association’s education fund.
Kwami Local Government Chairman, Dr Ahmed Wali, in his comments appreciated the SGS for his commitment to the development of the state and the LGA in particular.
While commending the state government for execution of numerous projects in the area, Wali appealed to the state government to consider returning Mallam Sidi NYSC Orientation Camp which he said was of great economic benefit to the people.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of Awards of Excellence to deserving members in recognition of the outstanding contributions to the development of the community.
