In a bid to ensure Universal Health Coverage for residents especially poor and vulnerable, Gombe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency has secured a licence from the National Identity Management Commission to function as a certified service provider for the enrolment of Nigerians seeking their National Identification Number.

The Public Relations Officer of GoHealth Samson Dairus, on Monday told PERISCOPE NIGERIA that this development is not just a regulatory achievement for the agency, adding that it heralds a new era in the digital identity space and inclusion.

“GoHealth promises improved access and services for the citizens of Gombe, particularly those in underserved rural areas,” Dairus

Darius continued saying, “The licence from NIMC demonstrates GoHealth’s capacity to contribute significantly to the digital identity ecosystem within Nigeria. Under this framework, the agency is empowered to facilitate the efficient enrolment of Nigerians into the NIN system, which is essential for various government services, program enrolments, and the validation of identities in an increasingly digital world. This strategic partnership underscores the commitment of both GoHealth and NIMC to advancing Nigeria’s identity management initiatives.”

Dairus noted that in a bid to meet the stringent requirements set by NIMC, GoHealth procured the necessary devices, compliant with both Android and Windows operating systems, “for conducting NIN enrolments. Moreover, an account has been established as an Enrolment Service Agent within the NIMC Convergence Billing System, enabling seamless transactions and efficient service delivery for applicants,” he added.

On his part, GoHealth’s Director of Information and Communication Technology, Musa Biri revealed that the commencement of NIN enrolment has already begun in Gombe, the state capital, stressing that it’s a tangible step forward for many residents who have faced obstacles in acquiring their NINs.

“This development is crucial for facilitating access to essential services, including healthcare, education, and social welfare programs. Furthermore, GoHealth is actively working on disseminating Information and Communication Technology equipment across all 11 local government areas of Gombe State. This initiative is aimed at ensuring that every resident, irrespective of their geographic location, has the opportunity to obtain their NIN.”

Biri added that this landmark is anticipated to foster greater participation in government programmes, enhance citizen engagement, and ultimately strengthen the social fabric of the state.

He encouraged all residents to take advantage of this opportunity and register for their NIN, as it paves the way for a more secure and connected future.
