Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Today, we raise our voices against the continuous dehumanization of Omoyele Sowore, the National Chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC), by the very institution entrusted with the security of the Nigerian people—the Nigeria Police Force.

At a time when our nation is plagued by insecurity—banditry, Boko Haram, Lakurawa, and the so-called unknown gunmen—one would expect the police to channel their resources toward safeguarding the people. Instead, they have chosen to weaponise the state apparatus against a man whose only crime is demanding a just, transparent, and accountable Nigeria.

The world watches in shame as frivolous and baseless charges are concocted against Sowore—an attempt not just to silence a man, but to intimidate a movement. If the police truly sought justice, they would focus their energy on the criminals terrorising our people, not on politically motivated persecution.

To the PDP, Labour Party, and Others Who Claim to Stand for the People

Where is your voice?

You see police extortion happen daily, yet you remain silent. Is injustice only an issue when it happens to those in your circle? Today it is Sowore, tomorrow it could be anyone who dares to speak truth to power.

Silence in the face of oppression is complicity. Every political party, civil society group, and concerned Nigerian must rise and demand the immediate and unconditional release of Omoyele Sowore.

We must not allow the Nigerian Police Force to continue acting as a tool of oppression. We must remind them of their duty—to protect and serve the people, not to silence dissent.

We Demand:

1️⃣ The immediate release of Omoyele Sowore.

2️⃣ An end to politically motivated arrests and harassment.

3️⃣ That the Nigerian Police focus on real threats—terrorists, bandits, and violent criminals—not political activists.

Justice delayed is justice denied. The time to speak is now. The time to act is now.

Signed:

BOBO BENSON BAGWIBA

State Chairman, African Action Congress (AAC), Gombe State.
