The Management Sciences for Health, a  sub-recipient to Catholic Relief Services and the Global Fund for malaria support project, on Tuesday donated a Toyota Hilux van to the Taraba State SMEP unit of the Ministry of Health, to step up support for fight against malaria in the state.

Mr Othniel Kighir, Taraba State MSH team lead, noted during the exercise in Jalingo that the gesture was to support the implementation of malaria-related interventions across Taraba.

Mr Kighir expressed that MSH believed the vehicle will help enhance the effectiveness of malaria interventions in the state.

According to the team leader, the donation was to consolidate MSH’s earlier support to Taraba, as they were committed to ensuring the availability of malaria commodities in the state, improving data quality, supporting Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention and Integrated Monitoring and Supervision.

“This gesture is to consolidate MSH’s earlier support to Taraba, support the implementation of malaria-related intervention, as we believed the vehicle will help enhance the effectiveness of malaria interventions across Taraba state.

“This contributions is part of MSH’s broader strategy to strengthen the health system and devolve activities to the state level. We are commitment to sustaining health projects, ensure the availability of malaria commodities, improve data quality, support Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention, and integrate monitoring and supervision,” Kighir expressed.

Responding to the development, Dr Chufor Harmony, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, on behalf of the commissioner, thanked MSH for the gesture, and assuring it would serve as a boost to eliminate malaria in Taraba.
