President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa expressed confidence on Wednesday about the country’s relationship with the United States under President Donald Trump.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, Ramaphosa revealed that he had spoken with Trump following his election victory and was optimistic about collaborating with his administration.
“I’m not worried about our relations. I spoke to him soon after he was elected, congratulated him, and we both said we are looking forward to continued dealings and engagements,” he said.
The U.S. assumes the G20 chairmanship after South Africa does.
Ramaphosa stated that South Africa would collaborate with the United States to get ready for its G20 chairmanship.
