Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has commended the administration of President Bola Tinubu for its impressive strides in tackling insecurity, improving the nation’s economy, and boosting the value of the naira.
Represented by Deputy Governor, Manassah Jatau, at the recently concluded APC Caucus and NEC meetings held at the Presidential Villa and All Progressives Congress, National Secretariat in Abuja, lauded the administration’s reforms.
This was contained in a press statement signed on Thursday by Jack Tasha, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, (Deputy Governor’s office).
He highlighted significant successes that have been achieved under the current administration, expressing optimism over the reduction in insecurity across the country, particularly in places previously plagued by frequent attacks.
Yahaya noted that the frequency of violent incidents in states such as Borno, Zamfara, Southern Kaduna, and Birnin Gwari and others, has significantly decreased. While acknowledging that the challenges are not entirely over, he emphasised that the situation had improved considerably.
“There is great improvement on issues of insecurity that had bedevilled the nation. The frequency of attacks in states like Borno, Birnin Gwari, Southern Kaduna, and Zamfara, has scaled down drastically. While the threat has not been completely eliminated, it has been reduced tremendously,” he said.
Yahaya also lauded the administration for its impact on agriculture and oil production. Farmers, he pointed out, are now able to work freely without the constant threat of violence, and oil production has risen as a result of the stable environment.
The governor said, “Additionally, there is a remarkable shift in the foreign exchange market. The value of the naira, according to the Deputy Governor, has improved, with the exchange rate for the dollar dropping from 1,700 naira to approximately 1,400 naira per dollar. With the introduction of uniform dollar exchange rates through the banks and Bureau De Change has helped to curb the multiple exchange rates that previously existed.”
Addressing issues of leadership within the APC, Yahaya called for a renewed commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective feedback mechanisms in all sectors and organisations, stressing the importance of leaders understanding what has been done, what is currently being done, and what is planned for the future to ensure progress within their organisations.
The governor also commended party officials for their adherence to these principles, noting the ongoing efforts to provide members with clear, updated information on key party activities, including budget matters, audits, and other significant developments. One notable initiative is the e-registration of party members, as well as plans to construct a new party secretariat to ease problem of congestion and enhance operational efficiency.
