The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Gombe State Command Monday issued a final warning to illegal private security operators to cease operations immediately and comply with the licensing process.
“All private security organisations must be duly registered and licensed by the Federal Government through the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,” said SC Buhari Saad, Public Relations Officer for the NSCDC Gombe State Command.
Saad emphasised that operating private security outfits without licenses is a direct violation of the Private Guard Companies Act Cap 367 (1990) and the NSCDC Act 2003 and as amended 2007. “We urge all individuals and organisations to adhere strictly to this directive to avoid legal consequences,” he warned.
The NSCDC has given illegal operators until February 14, 2025, to regularise their operations. Failure to comply will result in strict enforcement actions. “We will not tolerate any illegal activities that compromise public safety,” Saad said.
He listed the consequences of non-compliance, saying, “Failure to do so will result in immediate closure of the illegal security outfits, arrest and prosecution of violators, and confiscation of unauthorised security equipment.”
Saad advised operators to visit the NSCDC Gombe State Command for guidance on the licensing process. “We are committed to ensuring public safety, and we will take all necessary steps to achieve this goal,” he said.
