Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has emphasised the importance of synergy and innovation in achieving the state’s vision of ‘Greater Jigawa’.

Speaking at a two-day retreat for Executive Council members and top government functionaries in Gombe, Governor Namadi said the retreat aims to build on previous progress and address challenges.

“To achieve our vision, we must be proactive in seeking inter-sectoral collaboration, which saves time, energy, and resources, fosters inclusiveness, and leads to innovation and creativity,” Governor Namadi explained. He highlighted the significance of collaboration, saying, “Collaboration is a critical success factor… it can lead to innovation and creativity, both critical for transformational leadership.”

The retreat, themed “Ascending the Peak – Achieving Greater Jigawa Vision Through Innovation and Transformative Leadership”, focuses on innovative financial management systems, sustainable development, and transformative public service. Governor Namadi expressed his delight with the choice of experienced professionals facilitating the retreat, saying, “I have no doubt we will all get exposed to new perspectives.”

The Governor emphasized the need for continuous innovation in implementing the state’s 12-Point Agenda, which prioritizes safeguarding citizens’ security and welfare. “Our goal is to institute a transformational change process, repositioning institutions, systems, and mindsets for greater performance and productivity,” he said.

Governor Namadi urged participants to be fully engaged and active, ensuring the retreat’s objectives are met. He also expressed gratitude to Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, and development partners, including UNICEF and the FCDO.
