Popular Nigerian comedian DeeOne has made a shocking revelation about his recent clash with social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM), admitting that he deliberately set a trap to expose him as a manipulator.

Speaking on TVC, DeeOne disclosed that he orchestrated the entire controversy without Nedu’s knowledge, whom he used as a pawn to lure VDM into reacting.

“This whole thing you’re seeing on social media was planned,” DeeOne said. “I planned it alone, but Nedu didn’t know. I used him to get to VeryDarkMan because if I had said it on TikTok or Instagram, people would think I was just looking for attention or money.”

According to DeeOne, he had been studying VDM for over 18 months to determine whether he was genuine or merely stirring controversies to manipulate Nigerians. He claimed that while VDM sometimes gets things right, he often jumps to conclusions and misleads the public.

“Even Nedu will be shocked because if I had told him, he would have informed him since they are friends,” DeeOne added. “I feel bad about it, and I’m appealing to people not to let Nedu lose his job because he had no idea about my plan.”

He described his strategy as a bait-and-hook approach, using Nedu as “the hook to catch the fish.”

DeeOne also accused VDM of making baseless allegations against public figures and companies, citing previous incidents involving Jojo of Lagos, SiadaBoj, and Access Bank.

He noted that VDM had accused Access Bank of embezzling ₦500 million, but after making the claims, no concrete apology was ever issued when the allegations fizzled out.

Similarly, he referenced VDM’s accusations against Zenith Bank, explaining that the incident was the final push that convinced him to set up the trap.

“I knew that if I said this on social media, it wouldn’t carry much weight. But now, Nigerians can see for themselves that while VDM has his good side, he often jumps to conclusions without proper evidence,” DeeOne concluded.
