PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the tournament, organised by the Gombe State Ministry of Internal Security in collaboration with the Nigeria Football Association, aims to promote unity and collaboration among security agencies in the state.

“The coming together of the security agencies in the spirit of sportsmanship will enhance collaboration and sharing of information among the men and officers of the various security organisations for improved security of the state,” said Dr. Jatau during the opening ceremony.

The deputy governor also emphasised the importance of sports in promoting unity and solidarity among security agencies.

“Sport is a unifying factor, and I applaud the ministry of Internal security and the Gombe F. A. for this foresight,” he added.

Jatau suggested that the tournament could be an opportunity to establish a formidable Gombe State Security Football Team, solidifying the unity and collaboration among security agencies.

The Gombe State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Colonel Abdullahi Bello (rtd), noted that the tournament aims to encourage synergy and camaraderie among participants.

“We will continue to work in synergy with the security agencies to ensure peaceful coexistence among people of the state,” he said.

The tournament features 25 preliminary matches, with the finals scheduled to take place immediately after the Ramadan fasting period.

The first match saw the Federal Road Safety Corps team defeat the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps team with a single goal.

Dignitaries present at the opening ceremony included the Secretary to the Gombe State Government, Professor Abubakar Ibrahim Njodi, and the Gombe State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Ahmad Kasim Abdullahi.
