The Yobe State Government is working to secure scholarship opportunities and attract foreign investors from Morocco through a partnership with the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency.
The agency’s Head of Emerging Industries, Yassine El Ahyani, expressed interest in investing in Yobe’s agricultural sector, particularly in Sesame seeds and Gum Arabic, which have high international market value.
He highlighted the potential for significant returns due to rising global demand for agricultural products.
Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, assured investors of favorable conditions, including incentives and opportunities in agriculture, particularly for Sesame seeds, Gum Arabic, beans, and groundnuts.
Commissioner for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Mustapha Goniri, emphasised the high quality of onions produced in Geidam and other parts of the state, attributing it to favourable soil and climate conditions.
Goniri disclosed that the partnership will also explore green energy investment opportunities for local use and export.
The Yobe State Government has introduced policies to encourage direct investment and improve the ease of doing business in the state.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that African Network Centre SARL Limited, a consulting firm, pledged to facilitate the investment process.
The firm’s Team Lead, Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe, commended the government’s efforts to expand revenue sources, create jobs, and boost economic growth.
Additionally, the Yobe State delegation held discussions with the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) on educational exchange programs.
AMCI representative Badr stated that Morocco provides 100 per cent fully funded scholarships to 120 Nigerians annually and assured special consideration for Yobe students in future programmes.
