The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, has announced that all Corps members will begin receiving their new monthly allowance of N77,000 starting from March 2025.
He emphasized that both the NYSC and the Federal Government remain committed to the welfare of Corps members and will continue to prioritize their well-being.
Brigadier General Nafiu made this announcement on Thursday while addressing Corps members at the Wuse and Garki NYSC Zonal Offices in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Expressing gratitude for their dedication and selfless service to the nation, he urged Corps members to remain calm, committed, focused, and disciplined.
He also praised the founding fathers of the NYSC for their vision in establishing the Scheme and encouraged collective support for its continued success.
Nafiu further highlighted the NYSC as a valuable program that fosters national unity by building bridges between different regions and exposing graduate youths to diverse cultural values beyond their places of birth.
He stated further that the NYSC management would continue to instill the virtues of patriotism, discipline, self-restraint, good morals, leadership qualities and teamwork in the successive batches of Corps members.
“With effect from March, you are going to receive the sum of Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira as your monthly allowance.
“NYSC is good at record keeping and l can assure you that your money will be paid. The Nation and the Scheme appreciate you,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of her colleagues at the Garki Zone, Corps Member Zaka Deborah Alheri (FC/24A/5831) praised the Director General for his dedication and efforts in ensuring the payment of the increased monthly allowance.
