Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Monday appointed 26 new District and Village Heads across Pindiga, Akko, Tangale Emirates, and Chiefdom to fill existing vacancies.
The appointments were made to replace previous occupants who passed away, with selections based on thorough background checks to ensure nominees possess integrity and can foster security and unity in their domains.


Deputy Governor Manassah Jatau presented the letters of appointment during visits to the palaces of the respective paramount rulers, emphasised the importance of loyalty, commitment, and dedication to the administration’s goals, stating, “The new leaders must exhibit loyalty, commitment, and dedication to the administration’s goals.”
He outlined key responsibilities for the newly appointed heads, including ensuring citizen and environmental protection, promoting food security, and combating criminal activities, warning against individuals drawing salaries from multiple government sources, highlighting the criminal implications of such actions.
“A new law is in existence, criminalising such actions,” he added.
Secretary to Government of the State, Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, explained the selection process, stating, “The paramount rulers submitted three names for selection of one for final approval by the governor.”
He announced the appointments as follows Pindiga Chiefdom: 1 District Head and 8 Village Heads Tangale Chiefdom: 1 District Head and 2 Village Heads, Akko Emirate: 1 District Head and 13 Village Heads.
Local Government Chairpersons, including Mrs Eglah Idris of Billiri and Alhaji Mohammed Danladi Adamu of Akko, expressed gratitude to the governor for his commitment to the welfare and development of the people.
Lamido Akko, Alh. Mohammed Umar Atiku, praised the governor’s efforts in upgrading the General Hospital Kumo to a Federal Medical Centre, conveying the heartfelt appreciation of the people in the area and assuring continued loyalty to the government.
