Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has approved the appointment of District Heads and Village Heads in Nafada and Funakaye Local Government Areas, filling vacancies created by the death of their predecessors.
The appointment letters were presented by a delegation led by State Deputy Governor, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau.
While presenting the letters, Jatau commended the appointees’ selection and emphasised that leadership is a divine gift.
He urged them to work together for the development of their areas and provide weekly reports to the governor for effective governance.
“I commend you for being selected from many people in your area to serve in your various leadership capacities. We all believe that leadership comes from God, but our behaviors showed the contrary as we fight one another after the selection process instead of supporting each other,” Jatau said.
The Deputy Governor also warned the new appointees to support the Emirs and remain loyal, emphasizing that any act of insubordination would not be tolerated.
The Secretary to Government of Gombe State, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, explained that the appointments followed requests from the Emirs to fill vacancies caused by deaths two to three years ago. He noted that the delay was due to thorough background checks to ensure only individuals of integrity were appointed.
At Nafada, three District Heads and eight Village Heads were appointed, while ten Village Heads were appointed in Funakaye. The Chairmen of Nafada and Funakaye expressed gratitude to Governor Yahaya’s administration for addressing the people’s needs.
The Royal Fathers of Nafada and Funakaye praised Governor Yahaya’s administration for its sensitivity to the people’s needs and pledged their full support for the administration’s efforts.
