The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development Studies, Gombe State University, has officially unveiled products produced by the centre for public sales to both the university community and the general public.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the institution Naphtali Ligari, which was obtained by PERISCOPE NIGERIA in Gombe.
The event, which took place at the Centre, was attended by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Danladi M. Umar; the Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Aliyu Bafeto; the Acting Director of Physical Planning, Malam Salisu Murtala; the Director of Academic Planning, Professor Abubakar Danjuma Bajoga; the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Professor Babangida Mohammed Musa; alongside other distinguished members of staff and students of the University.
In his welcome address, the Director of the Centre, Dr. Abubakar Sadiq Usman, warmly received the Acting Vice-Chancellor, University Management, Staff, and Students. He highlighted the Centre’s primary objective of integrating practical skills into academic learning. Dr. Abubakar Usman emphasized that the Centre currently offers training in 23 different skills, including footwear and leatherwork, renewable energy power generation, salon services, cosmetology, tailoring, and knitting, among others.
Following the opening remarks, the Director led the University Management on a tour of the exhibition, showcasing various products produced by the Centre. Expressing his satisfaction with the progress of the Centre, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Danladi Umar, who was also the first Director of the Centre, underscored the importance of collaboration among departments. He noted that the University has a wealth of resource personnel who can contribute to the Centre’s continued success.
Also, the Registrar, Dr. Bafeto, reiterated the significance of collaboration and encouraged the Centre to extend its product sales beyond the University to reach wider markets and industries.
In his address, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, expressed his excitement and reaffirmed the University’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship. He stressed that the University takes pride in its students and staff and pledged continued support for the Centre. He further announced that the University would provide additional machines and equipment to enhance the Centre’s productivity. Professor Yauta urged the Centre to make efficient use of these resources for the benefit of the students and the University at large. He also shared his vision of making the University more self-sufficient and officially declared the products open for market patronage.
In a vote of thanks, the Deputy Director of the Centre, Dr. Adam Jibril, expressed profound gratitude to the University Management for their unwavering support. He also extended his appreciation to all attendees.
The successful unveiling event highlighted the Centre’s dedication to entrepreneurship and skill development, reinforcing Gombe State University’s mission to empower students and contribute meaningfully to society.
