The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Katsina State Chapter, has joined the global community in celebrating the 2025 International Women’s Day.
According to a press statement signed on Saturday by the Secretary; Faith Maji, and Hannatu Mohammed, Chairperson of NAWOJ Katsina State, “This year’s theme, ‘For All Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment’, resonates deeply with our organisation’s mission.”

The chapter commended the struggles, achievements, and contributions of women worldwide, saying, “As women journalists, we recognise the vital role our gender plays in shaping communities and societies.”
The Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, was praised for his administration’s deliberate inclusion of women in governance through strategic appointments to key positions. The statement noted, “The Radda administration’s efforts are a testament that women represent the backbone of our society and economy.”
The Katsina NAWOJ emphasised the need for stronger policies and programmes to support girl-child education, economics, and participation in decision-making processes.
“We appeal to the Radda administration to continue addressing violence against women and promoting gender equality,” the group stated.
The NAWOJ Katsina chapter also called on other organisations operating within the state to provide equal opportunities for women to attain higher positions, regardless of gender, pledging, “As women journalists, we will amplify our voices through our stories to promote a culture of inclusivity at all levels.”
