The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), led by His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has announced that fasting will continue on Sunday as the moon marking the end of Ramadan has not been sighted in Nigeria.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the NSCIA’s Secretary-General, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede.

He also enjoined Muslims to search for the crescent of Shawwal on the 29th of Ramadan, stressing: “If Muslims sight the crescent in accordance with the moon sighting and verification standards, then His Eminence will declare Sunday, 30 March 2025, as the 1st of Shawwal and the day of Eid ul-Fitr.”
