Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed rumors of his collapse and alleged medical evacuation, stating that he is in good health and will personally sign the condolence messages of those who spread the false reports.
Speaking after inspecting four ongoing projects in Abuja, including the International Conference Centre (ICC), Wike described the rumors as a distraction from more pressing national issues.
“I don’t want to give credence to people who are only interested in carrying rumours. First of all, I am a human being, it is not a ghost that will collapse. Unfortunately, I did not collapse and I did not show any sign that I have any health problem,” he said.
He linked the rumours to attempts to divert attention from revelations about alleged plots to attack national assets in Rivers State.
“There was no time I collapsed, there was no time anybody took me overseas. But you see me every day,” Wike emphasized, citing his recent public appearances, including President Bola Tinubu’s iftar event and a Sallah homage with Abuja residents.
The minister expressed confidence in his well-being, stating, “We know that we will die one day, but it is only God that determines that day. I am even healthier than most of them who carried that rumour, and I will write their condolence letters.”
During the project inspection, Wike praised the progress of ongoing works, assuring that several projects would be completed and inaugurated in time for President Tinubu’s second anniversary.
