Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Tuesday said the population of northern Nigeria puts her at advantage to ensure desired change, urging stakeholders to move beyond religious and ethnic differences.
Yahaya who doubles as Chairman of Northern States Governors’ Forum made this disclosure while receiving Emir of Gombe Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III on sallah courtesy visit to Government House.

Yahaya noted that there are those working assiduously to ensure conflict stressing that he and his colleague governors would ensure their machinations don’t fester.
He said, “Northern region has 60 percent of Nigeria’s population; when people come together to correct the wrong I’m sure the whole of Nigeria’s problems will be corrected because we are in the majority.”
Speaking further on the challenges confronting the region and the need for concerted efforts Yahaya added, “It’s imperative for the leadership to correct the wrong without ethnical and religious differences, the bad eggs will not succeed.”
Speaking earlier, Emir of Gombe, Abubakar hailed the governor for his developmental strides, stressing that “the governor has taken development closer to the people. We are glad because people are feeling the impact of the administration.”
Abubakar called for sustained peaceful co-existence in the state urging residents to move forward from the cultural and religious divides.
