In a strong move towards environmental sustainability, the Gombe Goes Green Task Force Committee paid an advocacy visit to the Gombe Geographic Information Systems headquarters.
The high-level meeting was graced by the presence of His Royal Highness, Abubakar Atare Buba II, and attended by members of the Task Force Committee.
While welcoming the delegation the Director General of GOGIS, Dr Kabiru Usman Hassan expressed delight at the visit.
In his own remarks, HRH Buba explained that the meeting is focusing on discussions around the allocation and implementation of designated green zones across the state as part of efforts to combat climate change and enhance urban beautification.
Dr Kabiru Usman Hassan presented the state’s updated land use master plan, highlighting areas earmarked for green development, emphasizing the importance of preserving these zones and stressed the strategic value of urban green spaces in promoting ecological balance.
Following the meeting, Hassan led the committee on a field tour to one of the newly allocated green zones at Shehu Abubakar district. There, he underscored the urgency of commencing tree planting and vegetation efforts to transform the designated land into a thriving green area.
The 3G Task Force members expressed satisfaction with the state’s commitment and praised the detailed planning shared by GOGIS.
They reaffirmed their readiness to collaborate closely with GOGIS and other stakeholders to ensure the successful rollout of the green zone initiative within Shehu Abubakar district and beyond.
