The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the timely release of the timetable for the 2026 Osun Governorship Election.
The commendation was contained in a press release issued in Osogbo by the Osun APGA Chairman, Mr. Wole Adedoyin.
According to the timetable released by the electoral commission, the Osun governorship election has been scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 8, 2026. The Commission also fixed the Ekiti governorship election for Saturday, July 20, 2026.
The announcement was made by the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, during the swearing-in ceremony of six newly appointed Resident Electoral Commissioners recently confirmed by the National Assembly.
Mr. Wole Adedoyin applauded Professor Yakubu for his unwavering commitment to credible elections and for giving ample notice to political stakeholders and the general public. He stressed that early dissemination of the election schedule would enable political parties to prepare adequately and mobilize support in compliance with the law.
The APGA Chairman noted that the early announcement of the election timetable reflects INEC’s transparency, readiness, and professionalism. He further urged other political parties to take advantage of the timetable to properly plan their activities and to ensure compliance with all electoral guidelines to avoid unnecessary conflicts or disqualifications.
While expressing APGA’s readiness to participate in the election, Mr. Adedoyin reaffirmed the party’s belief in democratic processes and its commitment to presenting credible candidate who will bring development and good governance to the people of Osun State. He assured party members and supporters that APGA is building a formidable structure across the state ahead of the 2026 polls.
APGA used the occasion to call on all political actors and parties to play by the rules and to shun electoral violence, vote buying, and other forms of malpractice that could undermine the credibility of the electoral process. Mr. Adedoyin emphasized the need for issue-based campaigns and urged politicians to engage in constructive dialogues and debates on developmental plans for Osun State.
The party also appealed to INEC to ensure a level playing field for all political parties and to guarantee that electoral guidelines are followed to the letter. Mr. Adedoyin encouraged the electoral body to intensify its voter education campaigns and to continue building public confidence in the electoral process.
APGA expressed its appreciation to the people of Osun State for their growing support and for embracing the party’s philosophy of inclusiveness, accountability, and grassroots development. Mr. Adedoyin reiterated APGA’s promise to be a viable alternative to the status quo and to remain committed to the welfare of the people.
In conclusion, Mr. Adedoyin called on eligible voters across the state to participate actively in the electoral process by registering, collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and voting responsibly.
