The first batch of pilgrims from Gombe State is scheduled to depart the holy city of Medina on Friday morning as they proceed to Mecca to continue their sacred Hajj journey. Their departure follows a spiritually fulfilling visit that deepened their faith and connection to Islamic heritage.

During their stay in Medina, the pilgrims had the opportunity to visit the Prophet Muhammad’s (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) Mosque, a place of immense religious significance for Muslims worldwide. At the Prophet’s Mosque, they offered prayers and conveyed their salutations at the Prophet’s tomb, an emotional and reverent moment for many.
In addition to the Prophet’s Mosque, the group visited Masjid Quba, the first mosque built by the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) upon his arrival in Medina. Pilgrims performed prayers in the mosque, fulfilling a Sunnah with immense reward, according to Islamic tradition.
The pilgrims also visited the historic Mountain of Uhud, the site of one of the most significant battles in early Islamic history. There, they paid respects to the martyrs of Uhud, including the Prophet’s beloved uncle, Hamza (RA), and reflected on the sacrifices made for the preservation of Islam.
Another important stop was the Baqi’a cemetery Jannatul Baqi’. This sacred graveyard is the resting place of many of the Prophet’s family members, companions, and early Muslims. Pilgrims offered prayers for the deceased and expressed gratitude for the chance to connect with their legacy.
Throughout their stay in Medina, all pilgrims were reported to be in excellent health. Despite the intense schedule and spiritual activities, there were no health incidents, a fact that was attributed to proper care, preparation, and coordination by the authorities.
Pilgrims described the experience as both emotionally moving and spiritually elevating. Many expressed joy over the unity and brotherhood shared among the group, noting that the atmosphere was peaceful, respectful, and spiritually charged.
The charismatic nature of the pilgrims was evident as they actively engaged in all religious activities with discipline, enthusiasm, and humility. Their exemplary conduct, unity, and commitment to the spiritual essence of the journey drew praise from local guides and fellow pilgrims from other states and countries.
Pilgrims also took time to commend the Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board for their outstanding organization and support. From arrival in Medina to their scheduled departure, board officials were on the ground providing guidance, medical care, accommodation, and religious orientation.
According to several pilgrims, the board’s officials were not only professional but also compassionate and accessible. They ensured that all pilgrims adhered to schedules understood the significance of each site visited, and received the necessary spiritual counseling.
“We are deeply grateful to the Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board. Their guidance made our visit to Medina smooth and spiritually meaningful,” said Hajiya Rabi Sulaiman, one of the pilgrims. “They treated us like family, and we are proud to be part of this well-managed delegation.”
Board officials accompanying the pilgrims expressed satisfaction with the group’s conduct and readiness for the next phase of the pilgrimage. They affirmed that the pilgrims were spiritually and physically prepared for the rigorous activities of Hajj in Mecca.
The Gombe State Pilgrims Welfare Board also reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all batches of pilgrims enjoy a seamless and spiritually enriching experience throughout the Hajj season. Officials stated that the board would continue to monitor the pilgrims’ welfare and provide full support in Mecca and Mina.
As the first batch prepares to leave for Mecca, there is a strong sense of purpose and anticipation among the pilgrims. They are expected to join millions of Muslims from around the world in fulfilling the fifth pillar of Islam Hajj.
The successful completion of the Medina leg marks a significant milestone in the journey of these pilgrims. It also reflects the planning, discipline, and spiritual readiness of the Gombe State delegation, setting a high standard for the subsequent batches.
As the convoy departs for Mecca, the prayers and best wishes of their families, communities, and the entire Gombe State accompany them. Their journey is a representation not only of personal devotion but also of the collective spirit of the Muslim ummah.
