The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended a Higher National Diploma (HND) Year 1 student of the Department of Laboratory Science Technology at Kwara State Polytechnic, identified as Ibrahim Oladimeji Abdulateef, for allegedly distributing illicit drugs to fellow students.
According to a statement released on Sunday by Femi Babafemi, NDLEA Director of Media & Advocacy, Abdulateef was arrested on Friday, May 16, at Favour Lodge in Ilorin. Operatives recovered 650 grams of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, already portioned into 149 cups.
The NDLEA statement noted, “In Kwara state, no fewer than 199,200 pills of tramadol were recovered from two suspects, Abdulwahab Quadir and Abdulraheem Ismail, on Friday, 16th May, following their arrest at Gegele area of Ilorin by NDLEA operatives who also raided Favour Lodge in the state capital, where an HND 1 student of the Department of Laboratory Science Technology, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ibrahim Oladimeji Abdulateef was arrested with 650 grams of Loud, a strong strain of cannabis already measured in 149 cups, which he sells to other students.”
In a separate operation on the same day, NDLEA officers intercepted a shipment of 250 grams of cocaine concealed inside female headgear at a courier company in Lagos. The package was destined for Australia.
Additionally, 29-year-old Ismail Isah was arrested along the Abuja-Kaduna highway after being found with an AK-47 rifle and two magazines hidden inside a sack of maize. He has been handed over to the appropriate security agency for further investigation.
