The Gombe State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has dismissed claims circulating on social media that Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gombe has been appointed as the party’s Deputy National Chairman (North).
In a statement released on May 16, 2025, the Acting State Chairman, Comrade Adamu Modibbo, described the claims as “false, fabricated, and politically motivated.”
“Our attention was drawn to a viral message alleging that the National Working Committee (NWC) of our party appointed Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gombe as Deputy National Chairman (North). This claim is entirely unfounded and a deliberate act of impersonation intended to mislead the public,” Modibbo stated.
The party clarified that, following a thorough check with the National Secretariat in Abuja, no such appointment was discussed or ratified. It emphasized that Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gombe, a resident of Jekadafari Ward in Gombe Local Government Area, is neither a registered nor a card-carrying member of the SDP at any level.
“Our official membership database does not include his name, further confirming that he holds no official position within the SDP,” Modibbo added.
The SDP advised the public to disregard any claims or representations made by or on behalf of Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gombe regarding the party.
The party reiterated its commitment to upholding democratic values and warned against attempts to undermine its integrity through “illegal and dishonest means.”
