A prominent member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Babagana Ajari, has lashed out at what he described as a “motley coalition” of political actors allegedly working to derail the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ajari, who serves as the National Deputy Director of the Go4Tinubu2027 movement, issued a strongly worded statement on Monday, condemning the group’s activities as a desperate and ill-fated attempt to deceive Nigerians and destabilise the country’s democratic progress.
“In what can only be described as a tragicomedy of political desperation, a group of self-seeking individuals—most of whom are known for their poor track records in governance and business—have resurfaced under the guise of a coalition to challenge the President’s re-election,” the statement read in part.
According to Ajari, these individuals are not driven by patriotism or national interest but by “an insatiable hunger for power and privilege,” despite their roles in Nigeria’s chequered history of misgovernance.
He accused the coalition members of lacking both vision and viable solutions to the country’s pressing challenges, stressing that their newfound “moral awakening” was unconvincing and politically motivated.

Ajari maintained that under President Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria is making progress through bold reforms in economic restructuring, institutional renewal, and national integration, despite the daunting challenges inherited from past administrations.
“Only the willfully blind would ignore the visible signs of transformation being implemented. To expect a complete turnaround within a single term is to underestimate the complexity of Nigeria’s longstanding issues,” he said.
He warned that any attempt to cut short Tinubu’s administration would be “counterproductive and profoundly unpatriotic,” urging Nigerians to stand firm in support of the President’s second-term bid.
“What Nigeria needs now is not a return to political theatrics, but continuity, stability, and focused leadership,” Ajari emphasised. “We must not allow the nation’s future to be hijacked by those whose only unifying factor is bitterness and failed ambition.”
He concluded by calling on patriotic citizens to reject what he termed the “perfidious agenda” of the coalition and support the continuation of the Tinubu administration to “consolidate on gains made and fully realise the vision of a prosperous and united Nigeria.”
