The End Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) Initiative, a non-governmental organisation based in Bauchi, paid an advocacy visit to the Gombe State Ministry of Water, Environment, and Forest Resources on Wednesday.

Led by its founder, Dr Mohammed Wana, the delegation met with the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Muhammad Abubakar Bello Kumo.
During the meeting, Dr Wana provided an overview of the organisation’s activities, focusing on eliminating seven major tropical diseases in rural and underserved communities across Northeast Nigeria.
The NGO’s mission aligns with the World Health Organisation’s 2030 roadmap, and Dr Wana solicited partnership with the Ministry to strengthen their efforts. He emphasised the importance of reaching affected communities and conducting awareness campaigns in local languages.
The Permanent Secretary expressed delight at the insightful presentation, stating that his understanding of NTDs had broadened. He welcomed the delegation and assured them of the ministry’s support, requesting a detailed proposal outlining areas requiring partnership.
Directors and senior staff of the ministry attended the meeting, which marked a significant step towards collaboration in combating NTDs in Gombe State.
