A report has revealed that Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renamed at least seven institutions after himself.
This was confirmed in a post on X made by the renowned journalist, Fisayo Soyombo.
Soyombo stated that he won’t be shocked if the ruling party, APC, gets renamed Bola Tinubu Progressives Congress (BTPC).
According to him, if the renaming saga continues on this trajectory, by the end of Tinubu’s tenure, at least 24 public facilities will have been named after him.
His words, “In just two years, President Bola Tinubu has named/renamed at least six edifices/institutions after himself: Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks, Abuja; Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex (BATTIC), Abuja; Bola Tinubu Polytechnic, Abuja; Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way, Abuja.
“The National Assembly Library, now renamed the Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu Building and, yesterday, the erstwhile International Conference Centre (ICC), now Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre.
“I won’t be shocked if APC gets renamed Bola Tinubu Progressives Congress (BTPC) sometime soon!
“At this rate, the president would have named at least 24 public facilities after himself should he complete a second term in office.
“But one thing is certain: Tinubu’s obsession with self-immortalisation will only last as long as his legacy of service. If his final two or six years in office are as woeful as the first two, the public will willy-nilly forget him in a flash. And his successor needs no more than a few weeks in office to erase his name from all these institutions, anyway. It’s all just a matter of time”, he concluded.
Recall that in March 2024, the Abubakar Imam International Airport in Minna, Niger State was also renamed after Bola Tinubu.
