The North-East Coalition of APC Support Groups has reaffirmed its loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and expressed full confidence in the party’s national leadership, following a two-day strategic meeting held in Gombe.
In a communiqué signed by its Chairman, Hon. Sha’abdini Bello, and Secretary, Barrister Jerry Adamu, the coalition declared its unwavering support for APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, describing his leadership as “pivotal to the party’s stability and growth.”
“We reaffirm our commitment to the supremacy of the APC and pledge our full support to the party’s national leadership under His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, PhD, OFR. Unity and loyalty remain the bedrock of our party’s success,” the coalition stated.
The coalition did not hold back in criticizing what it termed the “self-serving actions” of a group it described as the “so-called Pro-Arewa Group,” alleging that their motives were driven by personal ambition rather than the collective good of the party and the nation.
“The activities of this group are a clear deviation from the goals of the APC, Arewa, and Nigeria at large,” the statement said. “We call on the party and the President not to be distracted by such divisive elements.”
While commending President Bola Tinubu for promoting inclusive governance, the coalition urged the administration to broaden its efforts by appointing individuals with a national outlook.
“The President has proven to be a champion of minority groups. We encourage him to further onboard Nigerians with intellectual capacity and a sense of national unity to strengthen development across all regions,” the communiqué noted.
In what is expected to spark political discussions ahead of the 2027 elections, the coalition threw its weight behind former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, as a potential running mate to President Tinubu.
“Dogara’s leadership during the 8th Assembly was inclusive and unifying. His appointments reflected representation from every state in the North-East and all six geopolitical zones. He is a trusted and tested leader whose capacity to unify the country is undeniable,” the group stated.
The coalition also used the occasion to urge the federal government to accelerate the procurement and construction of the Akwanga-Gombe Road project, which it described as a vital link between the North-East and the Federal Capital Territory.
“In the spirit of Renewed Hope, we appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to mandate the expedited implementation of the Akwanga-Gombe superhighway. Just as other regions are witnessing transformational infrastructure, the North-East deserves equal attention to promote balanced national development,” the communiqué added.
Reaffirming its “unalloyed loyalty” to President Tinubu and the APC, the coalition called on all members and supporters of the party to uphold unity, discipline, and loyalty.
“This is a moment of Renewed Hope and National Rebirth. We must stay committed to the ideals of our great party and support the President’s vision for a united and prosperous Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
