Okezie Ikpeazu, the former governor of Abia State, has stated that he never promised to resolve all of the state’s challenges during his time in office.

Ikpeazu served as governor of Abia State from 2015 to 2023. While speaking to journalists in Abuja, the politician said his manifesto was modest and focused on realistic goals.

“I don’t regret anything because I was very humble and modest in my manifesto and in my social contract with the people of Abia,” he said.

“I never promised that I would be able to do everything. The summary of my promise was that I was going to move Abia, where it was at that time, to a better place.

”He said his administration should be judged on the parameters he set while in office.

“One of them is life expectancy; it was better in that time. Poverty index, it was better in my time,” he said.

The ex-governor also said his administration scored highly in job creation, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.

“I built two industries. I created employment for over 5,000 people,” he said.

“I built over 220 roads. I built 650 classroom blocks. I offered over 50 overseas scholarships to Abia youths. I trained 30 shoemakers in China. I can go on and on.”
