A prominent political figure and 2027 governorship hopeful in Gombe State, Engineer Aliyu Mohammed, popularly known as Kombat, has announced his decision to withdraw from the forthcoming gubernatorial race.

In a press statement issued on Monday, Kombat, who is widely known for his philanthropic activities through the Velocity Humanitarian Foundation, said the decision followed extensive consultations with political associates, friends, and mentors.
“After deep reflection and consultations with those I hold in high regard, I have decided not to present myself as a candidate in the 2027 governorship election,” he said.
The APC chieftain noted that while the decision might come as a disappointment to his teeming supporters and political support groups, it was a necessary step to allow him concentrate on other pressing responsibilities.
He added, “At this point in my journey, I am committed to several important engagements and responsibilities that require my complete focus and personal attention.
“Your confidence and trust mean more than words can express, and I am deeply grateful.”
Kombat reassured his followers that his withdrawal from the race does not signal a departure from active political participation. He reiterated his unwavering support for the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging his supporters to rally behind the party in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
He also affirmed his continued dedication to humanitarian causes through the Velocity Humanitarian Foundation, promising that the organization would sustain its interventions and empowerment programmes for the most vulnerable members of society.
