The Ministry of Water, Environment, and Forest Resources has welcomed a high-level delegation from the Gombe Goes Green (3G) Task Force, led by its Chairman HRH. Abubakar Atare Buba II, in the office of the Commissioner.



Hon. Mohammed Saidu Fawu, Commissioner commended the 3G Task Force for their dedication to environmental conservation.
He praised Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of the ACReSAl project, particularly in gully erosion control, land reclamation, and climate action tree planting.
“The governor’s leadership in championing environmental conservation efforts is truly commendable,” Hon. Fawu said, adding that “greening the environment is saving lives.”
He also lauded the appointment of HRH Dr. Abubakar Atare Buba II, saying, “HRH Dr. Abubakar Atare Buba II is a square peg in a square hole, given his impressive antecedents in tree planting and curtailing illegal cutting down of trees and other climate actions.”
Furthermore, he noted that the Ministry is working to expedite action on the Forestry Law, which is still pending at the Ministry of Justice, to further strengthen the state’s environmental conservation efforts.
Buba briefed the ministry on the Task Force’s activities, including awareness campaigns, tree planting initiatives, and community engagement.
He sought the ministry’s support and partnership in achieving the Task Force’s mandate, particularly in providing working tools, vehicles, and equipment to facilitate their work.
“We need the ministry’s support to achieve our goal of planting over 3 million trees and promoting environmental conservation in Gombe State,” Buba emphasised.
Earlier while delivering the welcome address, Permanent Secretary Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Bello Kumo expressed his delight at the Task Force’s initiative and commitment to environmental conservation.
Other dignitaries who contributed to the discussion included Special Adviser on Ecology and Environment, Hon. Muazu Garba, and Project Coordinator of ACReSAL, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro.
They emphasised the importance of synergy and cooperation in addressing environmental challenges.
On the sidelines of the event, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, Project Coordinator of ACReSAL, led the Task Force members on a tour of the Forestry and Wildlife Data Bank, which was established by the project for effective monitoring and management of forest resources.
Additionally, motorcycles were provided for rural roads transportation to facilitate the forestry guards work in securing forest resources and wildlife.
