Renowned author and leadership advocate, Dr M.S. Abubakar, is set to publicly present his latest work, “Principles for Greatness from the Life of General Tukur Buratai: Lessons for Today’s Youth”, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in Abuja.
The new book offers a timely and reflective exploration of the life and values of Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd), Nigeria’s former Chief of Army Staff, and distills key lessons in patriotism, leadership, resilience, and personal integrity into a guidebook for Nigerian youth.
Speaking ahead of the presentation, Dr. Abubakar noted that the book is more than a literary work; it is a call to action for the younger generation.
“This is not a book launch but a public presentation—an invitation to reflection, action, and inspiration,” Dr. Abubakar told journalists. “It is my goal to ensure this book reaches young people directly, which is why 5,000 copies will be distributed free of charge, especially to students in secondary schools and universities across the country.”
The event, scheduled to take place at the Main Auditorium of Merit House in Maitama, will be chaired by Amb. Yusuf Mamman, with the Governor of Jigawa State, His Excellency Mohammed Namadi, expected as the Special Guest of Honour. Notable scholars and leadership experts, including Professor Phillip Afaha, Director of the Abuja Leadership Centre at the University of Abuja, and Sir Dr. Ak Etta Peters, will serve as book reviewers.
Dr. Abubakar’s 15-chapter volume highlights the leadership principles embedded in Buratai’s military and post-retirement public service journey. Using accessible language and compelling storytelling, the book frames military discipline and national service in a way that resonates with the everyday experiences and aspirations of Nigerian youth.
“Young people today are searching for direction in a very noisy world,” Dr. Abubakar added. “This book gives them a roadmap to greatness that isn’t rooted in privilege or power, but in hard work, focus, and ethical leadership—the same values Gen. Buratai embodied throughout his career.”
According to early reviewers, Principles for Greatness blends literary clarity with practical insights, featuring smooth chapter transitions and high production quality to ensure lasting impact. Its distribution is part of a broader effort to foster national rebirth through character-building literature.
Dr. Abubakar is best known for his previous works, The Legend of Buratai and Bilkisu, and has earned a reputation as a thought leader in the areas of leadership, youth development, and security awareness.
