In a remarkable gesture of compassion and social commitment, renowned philanthropist and politician, Alhaji Bala Bello Tinka, Chairman and Chief Executive of Tinka Point Nigeria Limited, is preparing to launch a comprehensive free medical outreach initiative designed to improve healthcare access and transform lives across Gombe State.
Themed “Touching Lives, One Health Check at a Time,” the outreach is expected to provide thousands of residents especially women, expectant mothers, and the elderly with free, quality healthcare services.
This major intervention is in response to increasing public health concerns in the state. Recent health assessments have shown a troubling rise in undiagnosed breast cancer, particularly among women in underserved communities.

To address this, the outreach will include breast cancer screening and diagnostic services in partnership with Matrix Medical Centre, the only advanced diagnostic facility in the region. Free mammograms, CT scans, professional consultations, and medications will be offered to ensure early detection and intervention.
Pregnant women will also benefit from antenatal care, free ultrasound scans, and maternal health support all aimed at reducing pregnancy-related complications and promoting safer deliveries.
Senior citizens aged 60 and above will receive comprehensive health evaluations, covering key areas such as blood pressure, blood sugar, and heart health. Free medications will be distributed to help manage chronic illnesses and improve the overall quality of life.
Speaking to journalists in Gombe, Tinka emphasised that the initiative is not tied to any political ambition. He said:
I am doing this purely for the sake of Almighty Allah. I want peace in my grave and the reward of doing good. This is not campaign season; it is about humanity.
To ensure the success of the outreach, Tinka has already procured over 200 million Naira worth of drugs, which will be given to beneficiaries at no cost. He also pledged to provide more medications should the demand exceed expectations.
The outreach is expected to be carried out in phases, covering both urban centers and remote villages across Gombe State. Teams of doctors, nurses, and medical volunteers will be mobilized with equipment and logistics support to reach even the most inaccessible communities.
Each beneficiary will go through a digital registration process, allowing for proper medical documentation and potential follow-up care, thereby improving patient outcomes and ensuring transparency.
This health intervention is one among many life-changing initiatives spearheaded by Bala Bello Tinka, who has also made major investments in education for young people in Gombe State.
Over the past few years, Tinka has spent over 500 million Naira to pay tuition fees for more than 1500 Gombe State indigenes studying at top universities across Nigeria. These include students at Gombe State University, Federal University of Kashere, University of Maiduguri, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, Bayero University Kano, and Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
In addition, he has provided 30 million Naira in special support to 10 final-year medical students at the University of Maiduguri, ensuring they complete their studies and contribute to the health sector upon graduation.
Numerous Law School students have also benefitted from Tinka’s generosity. Full financial sponsorships have allowed many to fulfill their dreams of becoming legal professionals despite financial challenges.
At the secondary school level, Tinka offers full scholarships to children from less privileged families. Many pupils are currently enrolled at Matrix Academy, one of Gombe’s best private schools, under his sponsorship from JSS 1 through SS3.
These scholarships cover tuition, uniforms, textbooks, examination fees, and other essentials ensuring these students receive quality education and are equipped for future success.
Parents of beneficiaries have expressed deep gratitude, describing the initiative as a divine blessing and a beacon of hope for families struggling to educate their children.
Religious leaders, traditional institutions, and civil society groups have continued to commend Tinka’s quiet but impactful service, describing him as one of the few who serve with sincerity and purpose.
The medical outreach, once it begins in full swing, is expected to set a new standard for philanthropic healthcare intervention in the region, especially through its scale, organization, and commitment to equity.
For Bala Bello Tinka, this is just the beginning of a broader mission to uplift the poor, empower the youth, and build a healthier, more educated society.
His core belief is that leadership is not about power or position, but about impact and that those blessed with means must use them to serve others.
As preparations conclude and implementation approaches, the anticipation across Gombe State is rising. Communities are hopeful, and volunteers are ready to participate in what may become one of the state’s most far-reaching health interventions.
In a nation where millions still lack access to basic healthcare, this initiative by Bala Bello Tinka stands as a shining example of what is possible when leadership meets compassion.
And for him, the reward is not political gain or social recognition it is, in his words, peace in the grave and the eternal pleasure of Almighty Allah.
Shehu writes from Gombe State.
