Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has reportedly married a fourth wife in a private ceremony held in Abuja, despite ongoing public scrutiny over his corruption allegations.
The closed-door wedding took place on Saturday with only close friends and family members in attendance. The new bride, identified as Hiqma, was formally welcomed by Bello’s third wife, Hafiza, who shared the news on Instagram.
“Alhamdulillah, our family just got a little bigger and more loving! A warm welcome to our new family member, Mrs. Hiqma Yahaya Bello! May Allah bless our union and fill our home with love, peace, and Barakah. Amin,” she wrote in the post.
Bello, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), served as Kogi state governor between 2016 and 2023. Throughout his time in office, he was often referred to as Nigeria’s youngest sitting governor.
The former governor, who already has three wives—Amina Oyiza Bello, Rashida Yahaya Bello, and Hafiza Bello—has now expanded his household with this latest addition.
Although widely criticized for his style of governance and accused of financial impropriety by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Bello has largely remained silent and reclusive since leaving office.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration and a master’s degree in business administration, both from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.
While Yahaya Bello has largely kept his personal affairs away from the spotlight, this marriage marks a new chapter in his private life, even as many Nigerians continue to call for accountability over his handling of public funds.
