The newly posted Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Gombe State, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Dr Saad Idris, has paid a familiarisation visit to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gombe Command.

Idris visited the NSCDC state headquarters on Wednesday.
This was contained in a press statement signed by SC Buhari Saad, Public Relations Officer of the command.
During the visit, the REC commended the NSCDC Commandant Jibrin Idris, and its officers for their professionalism and contributions towards ensuring a secure and conducive electoral environment in Gombe State.
He highlighted the importance of collaboration between INEC and security agencies like the NSCDC in safeguarding the electoral process before, during, and after elections.
The REC stated that the purpose of the visit was to familiarise himself with the Gombe Command of the NSCDC and to further strengthen the existing synergy and collaboration between INEC and the Corps in the state.
This partnership, he noted, is critical in enabling both organisations to effectively execute their mandates in ensuring free, fair and inclusive election.
In response, Commandant Idris expressed appreciation for the visit and promised a more robust and effective synergy with INEC in Gombe State.
He affirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to working closely with the Commission to enhance security measures for electoral processes and support the conduct of free, fair, and secure elections in the state.
The visit concluded with a photo session, symbolising the strengthened synergy sought between INEC and the NSCDC in Gombe State.
