ZANGO KATAF, KADUNA STATE – The TEKAN Peace Desk has taken another step toward fostering peaceful coexistence in Central Nigeria with the distribution of fertilisers to 30 farmers in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to a post on the Desk’s Facebook page, the intervention is part of the Agropreneurship and Climate-Friendly Agriculture component of the ongoing “Promoting Peaceful Coexistence in Central Nigeria” project, supported by Kerk in Actie.
The project seeks to use agriculture as a tool for peacebuilding, livelihood support, and environmental sustainability.
Through this latest initiative, smallholder farmers are being empowered to improve crop yields, strengthen food systems, and contribute to local economic development. The distribution aims to address food insecurity while encouraging collaboration and mutual support across community lines.
The 30 beneficiaries were drawn from conflict-affected areas, where agriculture is being used to rebuild livelihoods and promote social cohesion. By supporting farmers with essential inputs like fertilisers, the TEKAN Peace Desk is helping to transform agriculture into a platform for unity and resilience.
In addition to fertiliser distribution, the broader project includes climate-smart farming practices, capacity building, and initiatives to connect communities through shared economic goals. More activities are planned in the coming months as the project continues to strengthen local value chains and grow peace from the ground up.
