The Nigeria Union of Journalists has commended the efforts of Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State for the construction of rural roads.
The NUJ Chairman, Yobe State Chapter Comrade Rajab Muhammad, stated this during an inspection of ongoing rural projects in Fika and Potiskum LGAs.
The NUJ Chairman and other Journalists visited some ongoing road projects; 5-kilometre Daya–Fadawa road and the newly completed 2.5-kilometre Ngojin–Potiskum road in Potiskum LGA.
He said the project will ease the transportation of farm produce from rural areas to various markets as well as to take development to their doorsteps.
“The road would boost socio-economic activities in the areas by opening up agrarian communities to trade and commerce”He said.
Rajab expressed his satisfaction with the quality of work done adding that the union will draw the attention of the state governor to any irregularities or substandard execution.
In his remark, the Village Head of Ngoji B, Malam Bulama Haruna, said the road has connected the community with Potiskum town.
He said for over 200 years the community has never seen a gigantic project like Ngoji-Potiskum road.
Speaking on the 5-kilometre Daya–Fadawa road, Hon. Muhammad Madaki, former Councilor of Ward, Fika LG said the road would enhance transportation of farm produce such as guinea corn, rice, and sorghum to major markets.
