The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Gombe State, beginning with online pre-registration on August 18, 2025, and now followed by in-person registration which kicked off on Monday, August 25.
According to INEC, the exercise is taking place simultaneously at its state office and all 11 local government area offices in Gombe State. Registration will run daily from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Speaking in a press statement, the Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity, Rifkatu M. Duku, outlined the services available during the registration period.
“The services to be rendered include new registration for voters who are 18 years and above and have never been registered, collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from previous registration, transfer of PVCs or voting locations, as well as replacement of damaged or lost cards,” Duku said.
She further emphasized that online pre-registration must be completed with biometric capture at designated INEC centers to be valid.
“Remember, online registration without completion with biometric captures is as good as non-registration. We urge eligible citizens to hurry to our nearest LGA office or the state office to complete the process,” she explained.
INEC also reminded residents that the services are accessible online through its official website, www.inecnigeria.org.
“Voting starts with registration, so register to vote and be voted for,” Duku added, stressing the importance of participation in the democratic process.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that every eligible voter in Gombe State is captured ahead of future elections, with its motto: “Making your vote count, consolidating our democracy.”
