The Secretary to Government of Gombe State, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, will be among a few distinguished Nigerians to be bestowed with an Excellence Service Award by the Association of Public Procurement Practitioners of Nigeria (APPON) on 15th August 2025 in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The award, to be conferred on the SSG, will take place during the Association’s National Conference, which will also include the induction of new members.
Presenting a letter of notification of the award to the SGS, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Sadiq, alongside other members of the Association’s Gombe branch, explained that the National Executive Council (NEC) found the SSG worthy of the honour due to his contributions to procurement practice and the development of Gombe State and the nation at large.
Dr. Ahmed further noted that Gombe State has witnessed remarkable infrastructural development, for which procurement plays a key role. He commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his transformational leadership.
He also highlighted the role played by the Secretary to the State Government in ensuring that procurement processes are strictly adhered to in all government activities.
In his response after receiving the award letter and formal invitation to the ceremony, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi thanked the Association for finding him worthy of the recognition.
He stated that the Gombe State Government, under the leadership of Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, is committed to transparency and good governance, which makes adherence to procurement principles in government business imperative.
Prof. Njodi assured the Association of his support and willingness to attend the ceremony. He also informed the delegation that the Gombe State Government is open to working in partnership with the Association for the benefit of the state.
