Taraba State civil servants on Tuesday called on Governor Agbu Kefas, to terminate the appointments of Accountant General of the state, Mr Gauis Danjuma, and the Commissioner for finance, Mrs Sera Enock Adi.
The civil servants made the call while interacting with journalists on day two of the ongoing workers strike, expressing disappointment over the civil servants biometric verification irregularities that erased over 7000 civil servants including Directors and Deputy Directors on the payroll.
They called on the governor to replace the duo with competent persons to address the damage perpetrated by the exercise and avoid it’s future occurrence.
Our correspondent reports that Taraba state government had in June 2025, through the office of the Accountant General of the state, organised by the Commissioner for Finance Mrs Sera Enock, and headed by a permanent secretary, office of the Secretary to the Government of the state (SGS), Taraba, Mallam Haruna Abdulkadir, conducted a Biometric verification exercise for civil servants and decleared over 7000 people as ghost workers.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA also reports organise labour unions in the state have on Monday declared an indefinite strike action to protest the abnormality for immediate correction.
The civil servants told journalists during the strike compliance monitoring tour in Jalingo that the development was purely a display of incompetent on the part of both the AG and the finance Commissioner, and call for their immediate removal.
“This is the first time since the creation of Taraba that these mess has happened.
“We want the immediate sack of both the Accountant general and the commissioner for finance for lack of competence. These strike is to draw the attention of the governor to do the right thing. The Biometric exercise conducted is a trash and worse ever exercise in the history of Taraba.
“After the Biometric, the claimed
substantial workers are encountering shortfall in their salaries. The exercise is an embarrassing damage that is negatively portraying Taraba on the global map of gross incompetence that pose national danger on the future of the citizens. We say no to that. The governor should remove the Accountant general and the finance Commissioner and ensure that the right thing is done,” the civil servants insisted.
