Yamaltu Deba Local Government has been blessed with remarkable politicians . All of them are proud members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and have served at both state and national levels, significantly contributing to our community’s growth. For about 16 years, Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, from Akko LGA has effectively represented Gombe Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, serving four consecutive terms. Now, the people of Yamaltu Deba believe it is their turn to select the next Senator for Gombe Central in 2027 general election. Standing out among the sons of Yamaltu Deba who deserve this chance are:
1. Rt. Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Ibrahim. Known as Sadiq kurba, has a distinguished political career as a two-term member representing Yamaltu West constituency in Gombe state House of Assembly from 2015 to2023. Sadiq Kurba a loyal follower of Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, many think that Senator Goje may see him as a possible successor to take over the Senate seat. A Former Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly (2019–2020), and currently Legislative Aide to Senator Danjuma Goje.
The most tangible achievements are directed at his constituents in Yamaltu West. Hon. Kurba is renowned for his extensive grassroots empowerment programs, through which he has distributed of motorcycles, Cars, sewing machines, and grinding machines to create jobs and boost small businesses. He has also facilitated critical infrastructure projects, including the construction and renovation of classroom blocks, Renovation and drilled motorized boreholes to address water scarcity. His consistent support for education through scholarships and material donations, combined with agricultural aid like fertilizer distribution for farmers, underscores his commitment to poverty alleviation and sustainable development in his constituency.
As Speaker, he led the historic debate and passage of the Child Rights Act in Gombe State. This law protects children. His background as an academic at FCE (T) Gombe gives him a strong bond with the educational needs of youth. In his current role as aide to a sitting Senator, he has gained direct insight and access to how the Senate operates, preparing him to deliver effectively from day one if elected.
2. Hon. (Dr) Abubakar Yunusa Ahmad
Engineer, Legislator, and Community Builder.
Hon. (Dr) Abubakar Yunusa Ahmad, fondly called Ustaz Yunusa, is a distinguished Electrical Engineer and respected politician who represented Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives from 2015 to 2023.
In the 8th Assembly, he served as Chairman, House Committee on Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), where he facilitated the employment of over 60 youths into FRSC. In the 9th Assembly, he led the Nigeria/Palestine Parliamentary Friendship, served as President of the League of Parliamentarians for Quds in Africa, and contributed to several strategic committees including Defence, ICT, and Water Resources.
Beyond legislation, Hon. Yunusa is celebrated for his impact on education. He partnered with the Federal University Kashere to expand learning opportunities, constructed classrooms across communities, and established ICT Centres in over ten secondary schools, bridging the gap in digital literacy.
A recipient of numerous national and international awards, he holds traditional titles such as Makaman Jahar Yamma and Dan-Masanin Yamaltu, symbolizing his enduring service to people, culture, and development
3. Hon. Nasiru Muhammad Aliyu
The Current Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, and Tourism under Governor Inuwa Yahaya.
His Key Achievements.
Honourable Commissioner of Commerce, Hon. Nasiru Muhammad Gwani, has played a key role in transforming Gombe State’s economy. He has been instrumental in attracting over ₦70 billion in investment commitments. This milestone will create many jobs and promote long-term prosperity for the state.
A key part of his plan is an ambitious project to build and upgrade 27 modern markets across all 11 Local Government Areas (LGAs). This initiative aims to boost trade, support entrepreneurship, and provide local businesses with better infrastructure. Additionally, he has been crucial in establishing the Gombe State Investment Promotion Agency (GOSIPA) and is driving important reforms to make doing business easier. His goal is to position Gombe as the leading industrial and commercial center in Northeast Nigeria.
In addition to these major achievements, Hon. Gwani is dedicated to grassroots development and fighting poverty in his community. His direct efforts include distributing fertiliser to help farmers in his ward, providing financial support to APC executives across the Yamaltu/Deba LGA, and running empowerment programs. He has given out sewing machines, poultry chickens and their feed, and grinding machines to local residents. He has also renovated boreholes in his area to ensure access to clean water, showing a well-rounded approach to improving lives at the local level.
