Human rights lawyer and activist, Dele Farotimi, has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Tinubu, accusing him of creating a counterfeit version of the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere.
In a post on X, he alleged that Tinubu has a history of fabricating institutions and groups to serve his political ambitions.
“Tinubu has his own specially created schools, his own bishops, and now his own iteration of Afenifere. Everything Tinubu cannot purchase or influence, he counterfeits. This is NOT Afenifere, these are Tinubu’s poodles,” Farotimi wrote.
His remarks came in reaction to a user who questioned reports linking Afenifere with Tinubu’s government, stressing that Farotimi himself serves as the group’s Secretary-General.
The comment has further fueled debates over internal divisions within Afenifere, with factions split between supporting Tinubu’s administration and opposing it.
