In Gombe State, a significant political development, influential stakeholders in Yamaltu Deba, some loyalists, also supporters of the Present administration in the state and many electorates in Yamaltu/Deba Local Government are propelling Hon. Nasiru Muhammad Aliyu, also known as Nasiru Gwani, to run for the senatorial seat in Gombe Central Senatorial district.

This shift comes from Gwani’s reputation as a grassroots leader and his real achievements as Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, and Tourism. He previously served as Acting Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe before joining the All Progressives Congress.(APC) Gwani’s political journey shows his resilience, adaptability and results-focused approach to governance.
Under his leadership, Gombe State attracted over ₦70 billion investment commitments, as a record for the area. He led the construction and upgrade of 27 modern markets across the11 local government areas of the state. Most importantly, Gwani was a key instrumental in establishment of the industrial park which was named after Muhammadu Buhari located at Dadin-kowa in Yamaltu/Deba. This capital project which has consumed Billions of Naira is expected to create thousands of jobs, and business opportunities for the good people of Gombe state. the project is expected to draw the attention of new investors to build industries, which will boost the economic growth of not only Gombe state but the entire North-East region.
Gwani also focuses on community needs. His efforts include providing fertilizers to farmers, offering grinding and sewing machines to women and youth groups, rehabilitating boreholes to enhance access to portable drinking water for the remote villages, and supporting small business owners. He has tirelessly worked to promote Gombe State’s tourism potentials, were he organized trade fairs, and provides an enabling environment for small and medium enterprises to growth.
On the other hand, the diehard supporters of Distinguish Senator Muhammadu Danjuma Goje and constituents in Yamaltu/Deba Local Government want him to to continue the good leadership and vesting to the communities in 2027. Currently in his fourth term service as Senator representing Gombe central and he is not only a former Governor of Gombe State but a political icon, a senior legislator and Chairman of the North-East Senators’ Forum.
Goje’s supporters point to his work, including sponsoring bills and motions on education, security, and regional development. They also highlights his success in bringing federal projects to his constituency few to mentions are roads, schools, solar street lights, healthcare facilities, and empowerment programs. its also His national recognition and extensive political experience, they believe, that he will continue to give the zone a strong voice in Abuja.
In a notable display of political support, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Ibrahim Kurba, former Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, has distanced himself from the Senate seat and pledged full support for Senator Goje’s continuity, Kurba regarded Goje as a father and mentor, he promised to rally support for his re-election, further heating up the political atmosphere.
