Following the recent flooding that ravaged over 90 households in communities in the Jalingo-Kamo, Governor Muhammadu Yahaya has directed the State Emergency Management Agency to present relief materials to the victims.
While presenting the relief items on Wednesday to the Village Head of Jalingo-Kamo in his palace, the Executive Secretary of SEMA, Alhaji Abdullahi Haruna said the items which consisted of food and non-food items were approved by Yahaya.
He also explained that “the agency followed due diligence in assessing and enumeration of the affected persons,” noting further that,
“This incident is unfortunate and pathetic,” he added.
While further conveying the sympathy of the governor to the people, Haruna added, “the items presented were aimed at giving some relief to cushion the suffering of the affected families and not in anyway compensation of your losses.”
In a remark to the affected families, the Member representing Kaltungo East and the Majority Leader of the State House g of Assembly assured that the government’s commitment to the wellbeing of the citizens in all situations.
Ladan also called on the people to remain calm, loyal, and supportive of the Inuwa Yahaya-led administration in its quest to bring development to all parts of the state.
Receiving the materials on behalf of the affected persons, the Village Head of Jalingo-Kamo Abdullahi Musa hailed Yahaya, the House members, and SEMA for the gesture.
However, he appealed to the state government to consider the construction of roads to open the area for development and street lights to enhance the security of lives and property.
The items presented included bags of rice, spaghetti, rubber mats, wrappers, childrens’ clothing among others.
