Stakeholders in Gona District of Akko Local Government Area have on Tuesday, commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his foresight and commitment to grassroots development, following the creation of the Akko North Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The commendation was made during a stakeholders’ meeting convened at the palace of the Emir of Gona, His Royal Highness, Alh. Umar Abdulkadir Abdulsalam II, which drew together traditional rulers, political and business leaders, community leaders, and scholars from across the four wards of Akko, Garko, Kalshingi and Tukulma.
Speaking at the meeting, the Emir of Gona described Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s decision to carve out Akko North LCDA as a bold step that would bring governance closer to the people, enhance access to infrastructure, and accelerate socio-economic development at the grassroots.
He noted that the people of the area have long yearned for such recognition and that the Governor has demonstrated visionary leadership by responding to their aspirations.
In a unanimous show of support, the Emir led stakeholders in passing a vote of confidence in the governor, citing his numerous interventions in education, healthcare, road infrastructure, and rural development across the state.
Also lending his voice, the member representing Akko North in the Gombe State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Musa (Wuro Biriji), praised Yahaya for giving the district a sense of belonging, stressing that the establishment of the LCDA would not only deepen participation in governance but also create opportunities for youth and women empowerment.
On his part, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Safiyanu Danladi Mairiga, said the creation of Akko North LCDA is a reflection of the Governor’s inclusive governance agenda, assuring the people that the Inuwa Yahaya-led administration remains resolute in ensuring equitable distribution of resources across all communities.
Also speaking, a renowned Islamic scholar and District Head of Taliyawa, Sheikh Isah Taliyawa, described the development as a progressive one, calling on the people of Akko North to rally behind those to be entrusted with the leadership of the LCDA and support its policies and initiatives for sustainable peace and development.
Other speakers at the meeting, including community and business leaders, emphasized that the new development area will open avenues for investment, boost commerce, and strengthen local administration.
