The Concerned Taraba Youth Group on Saturday called on Governor Agbu Kefas to align with President Bola Tinubu in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in order to attract more federal presence to Taraba State.
Addressing journalists in Jalingo, the group insisted that the governor’s alignment with President Tinubu and the APC would fast-track the long-anticipated Mambilla Hydropower Project and other major developments that would boost the state’s economy.
Comrade Shedrack Iremiya Gani, spokesperson of the group, lamented the continued deterioration and abandonment of federal projects in Taraba, alleging that this was due to the lack of synergy between the state government and the ruling party at the federal level.
He appealed to Governor Kefas to “make history” by leading Tarabans into the APC, stressing that such a move would attract the much-desired development to the state.
“Considering the continued deterioration and abandoned federal projects in Taraba, we appeal to Governor Agbu Kefas to align with President Bola Tinubu to attract federal presence to the state,” Gani said.
“We want the governor to make history by leaving the PDP and joining the APC. We believe this will bring positive developments such as the long-awaited Mambilla Hydropower Project, the Zing–Jalingo–Wukari road and many others, as we are already seeing in APC states.”
The group further expressed confidence that, if Taraba becomes an APC state, President Tinubu would prioritize the construction of the Jalingo–Gembu, Takum–Lau, and Wukari–Karim Lamido roads, as well as create empowerment schemes and job opportunities for youths.
They acknowledged Governor Kefas’s reforms in education, healthcare, and empowerment, which they said had rekindled youth confidence, but maintained that aligning with Tinubu and the APC was the only way to ensure greater development for Taraba.
The group also highlighted key abandoned projects, including the Ibi Bridge, which they described as a potential gateway for trade and commerce; the collapsed Namnai Bridge, which has cut off communities; and the worsening condition of federal highways.
“Nigeria today is being driven by the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, and we do not want Taraba to be left out of this transformational drive. For us to attract federal attention, our governor needs to work side by side with the president,” the group stated.
“If Governor Kefas joins the APC, Taraba will gain direct access to federal projects, resources, and opportunities that our citizens desire.”
They concluded by declaring that Taraba youths are united in their call for Governor Kefas to join the APC and work with President Tinubu to deliver the development the state needs.
