The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that it will carry out a scheduled preventive maintenance exercise at its Gombe 132/33kV Transmission Substation from October 14 to 24, 2025.
According to the company, the work will take place daily between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and is aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of power transmission in Gombe State.
In a statement signed by TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the company explained that its engineers will be working on the Shongo 33kV Feeder 8 to replace old protection and control panels with new ones.
“This maintenance exercise is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure a more stable and reliable power supply to electricity consumers,” Mbah stated. “Our engineers will work on the Shongo 33kV Feeder 8 and replace the protection and control panels with modern equipment.”
She, however, assured residents and businesses that there will be no major power disruption throughout the period of the maintenance.
“Kindly note that there will be no load loss on the Shongo 33kV Feeder as the load will be transferred to the Darazo 33kV Feeder, while power from the Mallam Sidi Feeder will be shifted to the Doma 33kV Feeder 6,” Mbah explained.
“This means that bulk power supply to the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) will not be interrupted during the exercise,” she added.
Mbah further appealed to electricity consumers in Gombe and its environs for understanding and cooperation, noting that the scheduled maintenance is crucial to sustaining long-term service reliability.
“Preventive maintenance remains a vital part of our operational routine,” she said. “We urge the public to bear with us as we carry out this important work to enhance power stability across the region.”
