The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Pate, and Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Saturday commissioned projects built by the Federal Government in Federal Teaching Hospital.

Speaking, Pate said the projects are aimed at strengthening service delivery and expanding training opportunities for health workers in the North-East.

The commissioned facilities include Isolation and molecular laboratory complex, Engineering services department complex, Anesthesia complex, Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imagining, full Electronic Medical Records, College of Nursing Sciences
The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Pate, said the projects were in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The commissioned projects are very strategic from many angles. They include diagnostic facilities such as CT scans, emergency services for women and children, and institutes for nurses and specialised training,” Pate explained.
He added that the facilities would make the hospital better equipped to serve Gombe State, the wider North-East, and even neighboring countries.
“With this, the health sector is becoming a beacon of hope not only within Nigeria’s borders but across the sub-region. Thanks to the support of His Excellency and the leaders implementing diligently, Nigeria is on the rise. If we join hands, we can build the health system we want. There are no angels from anywhere who will fix it for us,” he said.
On manpower shortages, the minister noted that the administration had doubled the quota for training health workers two years ago. “We are seeing infrastructure for training expanded and curricula improved. With the kind of facilities we now have, health workers will function more effectively, and over time, these challenges will be behind us,” Pate added.
The Chairperson of the Board of FTH Gombe and APC Deputy Women Leader, Hajiya Zainab Ibrahim, said the new projects would boost healthcare delivery. “This is in line with Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda of making healthcare accessible and affordable to every Nigerian,” she said.
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, also commended the initiative, saying, “We are gradually winning and we shall reach the destination.”
Similarly, the Chief Medical Director of FTH Gombe, Prof. Yusuf Abdullahi, lauded the president for providing an enabling environment. “What you are seeing shows the president is walking the talk, and the benefit is for all Nigerians. We are happy,” he stated.
