Again, Ogun empowers another 100 teachers with laptops

In a bid to further enhance effective teaching and learning of science subjects in Public Secondary Schools across the State, Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has trained and empowered One Hundred selected Science, Technician, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) teachers with Computer Laptops.

Commissioner in the Ministry, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, during the closing Ceremony of a two-weeks Progressive Science Initiative, Progressive Mathematics Initiative (PSI-PMI) Step-Down Training in Abeokuta, said the Ministry would conduct an experimental research on the activities of the 850 teachers trained to ensure desirable impact of the new pedagogy on learners.

Prof. Arigbabu, according to Mr. Samuel Ogungbesan, the Information and Public Relations Officer, MOES&T, assured that the government had also made arrangements for the provision of solar power devices to ensure that the computer laptops and other smart gadgets work effectively, thus, making teaching and learning smooth, interesting and seamless.

The Commissioner enjoined participants to adequately take good care of the laptops  and used them maximally for the purpose for which they were provided, reminding them that they were official tools that should not be taken away.

“We thank God that Ogun State Government is actually changing the narrative, by training teachers who will train others. The training was not just for you but when you get to your schools, people should start seeing difference in the way you teach henceforth,” Arigbabu noted.

Speaking, Director of Education, Department of Science and Technology, Mrs. Abosede Edun, said the one hundred STEM teachers had been camped in an intensive training for two weeks and were cooperative and dedicated throughout the period  of the .

Responding, two of the participants Mr. Oluwaseun Adebanjo, from Imobi Community High School, Oke-Igbaga and Mrs. Abolanle Ipaye  from Abusi Edumare Academy, Ijebu-Igbo respectively, appreciated the government for investing that much in their capacity building training and making them better teachers, assuring that the impact of it would soon be seen on learners in their respective schools.
